Katalumba Primary School

Katalumba Primary School looks out over Lake Kariba, Zambia. It has 425 pupils in 7  classes and  is twinned with Ysgol Brynmor in Swansea. Like many schools in Siavonga, there are two sessions where pupils come in for part of the day. They have plenty of water but no mains power.

In January 2016 we visited the school to see how we might help. We returned in February 2017 to install two solar panels and a 200Ah battery.

The Head Teacher’s room is very small but will house the solar controller equipment and the router.

The solar panels will eventually be mounted on the roof of the school.

We had lots of help in setting up the solar panels and equipment from pupils, staff and community members.
